Hi all!

That time of year again as the Woburn Sands Local Produce Market returned yesterday for it's Spring Market. Slightly rain affected, but still a great turn out, and lovely to reconnect with regulars and the other stall holders. My new gazebo was a blessing with the rain being pretty heavy at times!

Hi all!

Firstly I'd like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I can't believe that the year has gone by so fast! Secondly just to update you on my first Pizza Making Masterclass which I hosted last Friday for a local accounting firm Essendon for their Christmas party. We've recently bought a new wood fired pizza oven so it was great to see it in action and the pizza produced was really good! A thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a Friday night near Christmas! I'm also planning on doing 'left overs' pizzas for the family on Boxing Day - think Turkey, Cranberry Sauce and Pigs in Blankets pizza!

A great time was had today with the team from Gracechurch Wealth Management, who came for a bread-making and team building way day. My mum, Sue, ran team building exercises and games with half the group while the other half baked bread with me, before swapping over. I hope everyone who came enjoyed themselves - I know I did!

Hi all!

Big changes are underfoot here at Breadfordshire Bakery, and it is with some sadness that I announce that my regular, weekly baking is to stop after this weekend. I'm moving onto  a new job and won't be able to keep up my baking. I'd like to thank every single person who has supported me over the past 15 months - I've really enjoyed the experience and I hope that I've provided you all with some great bread.

I'm still going to be running a stall at the Woburn Sands local produce market every 3 months, and I have plans afoot to start teaching some bread making courses, so watch this space!

Hi all!

What a crazy week! First of all, a big congratulations to my sister on getting married last Saturday a wonderful, wonderful wedding and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together. I hope you and all the 200+ guests at the wedding enjoyed the focaccia starter that I made - I long day in the kitchen before the wedding, but well, well worth it!

Also, yet another brilliant local produce market in Woburn Sands this weekend, great weather and a better turnout. It was great to see even more stalls added to the market, as it continues to go from strength to strength! 

Really good to sell out of bread once again - I'll have to bake even more for September!

Hi all!

What a great local produce market in Woburn Sands this weekend - the weather just about held and lots of people came out to support all of the stalls. It was a crazy couple of days of baking, but I was very happy with the results! 

It was great to be supporting Willen Hospice at the market this weekend with their #GoBlueForWillen campaign. I made some blue cheese and cranberry muffins that proved very popular! Half of the money I received from those went directly to Willen Hospice - a great cause. 

It was also nice to drop off about 10 left over loaves to the local winter homeless shelter on Sunday night - another great cause that I was more than happy to support!

Hi all!

A quiet month or so here at Breadfordshire Bakery, starting to plan for Easter and practice my hot cross buns and will be trying a couple of European enriched dough breads in the coming weeks - similar to the Christmas breads, but with different fruits and spices! 

A couple of weeks to go until the 3rd Woburn Sands Local Produce Market, and I'm going to be supporting Willen Hospice in their #GoBlueForWillen campaign. I'm not sure how blue bread will work, so I'm going to have a go at something with blue cheese in. Looking forward to raising some money for a great cause!

Hi all!

In full swing for Christmas now! 

I've just been at the 2nd Woburn Sands Local Produce Market - this one obviously Christmas themed! Another great turn out despite the cold weather! Lots sold and orders taken for Christmas Eve!

My wonderful Christmas Crates are available for order and come stuffed with all sorts of bread and Christmas related goodies! I've also been making lots of German stollen, and Spanish three kings rings - both stuffed with dried fruits and spices and perfect for Christmas!

Remember that I'm doing a Christmas Eve delivery, and offering my full range of breads, including focaccia to make sure everyone has lovely, fresh bread for Christmas Day - here's to the best Christmas ever!

Hi all!

I've introduced a new bread to my range this week - a 66% rye sourdough. Really low in gluten, it combines all the health benefits of sourdough's long fermentation process with the natural goodness of rye grains. It's quite dense and has a very distinct rye flavour - one that I personally love!

Hi all!

I've added a third shop to my list of outlets, with Aubergine Deli in Woburn Sands taking on my bread. John and Jill run a great little local deli, and I'm really glad that they've agreed to try out my bread. I took 1 tray of roasted tomato and greek basil focaccia, 3 sourdoughs and 3 sun-dried tomato and feta loaves this morning - here's hoping they sell well!

Hi all!

My bread is now selling in the Frosts Garden Centre food hall! I dropped off 2 trays of roasted tomato and greek basil focaccia, 2 trays of caramelised onion and thyme focaccia, and some beetroot and horseradish, and sun-dried tomato and feta breads.

Hopefully the bread will sell well and this is the start of a good working relationship with Frosts!

Hi all!

This weekend was the Frosts Food and Drink Festival, at Frosts Garden Centre in Woburn Sands. What a great weekend it was, the sun was out all weekend and the festival was buzzing! I made lots of focaccia for my stall, with 4 different toppings - Rosemary and Sea Salt, Roasted Tomato and Greek Basil, Caramelised Onion and Thyme & Braised Fennel and Black Olive. I also made beetroot and horseradish, and sun-dried tomato and feta breads too. 

Great to meet all the other stall holders - can't believe that The Tomato Stall had come all the way from the Isle of Wight! Many thanks to Matt and the Frosts team for hosting the festival and inviting me!

Hi all!

While on holiday on Zakynthos with family we spent a day at the Peligoni Club, and who should be there but Tom and Henry Herbert – the Fabulous Baker Brothers http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-fabulous-baker-brothers  from Hobbs bakery https://hobbshousebakery.co.uk/ whom dad had met at the Do lectures http://www.thedolectures.com/  3 years ago!  

Tom is more the baker and Henry the butcher - a great double act. I loved doing the pizza - making workshop with Tom the next day - he has a great banter and ease with people and massive amounts of knowledge and experience with all things bread. I did also enjoy Henry's joke: “Why did the baker have brown hands – Because he kneaded a poo”! Thanks Tom and Henry for all your advice and offers of support – I’ll think about how I bring my maths and chemistry brain to my baking. I really appreciated your time, and Tom, I hope your daughter had a great birthday.

Hi all!

What a great time the 2 day Woburn festival was; the sun shone, the people came, and the bread sold – 230 loaves! Congratulations to all the organisers including Johann, John, Kate and Rob.

 The new focaccia range and beetroot & horseradish loaves were popular as well as the old staples. It was great to see so many existing and to meet so many new customers. The time flew with the only difficulty not being able to get away for a coffee or a pee!

Looking forward to having stalls at future festivals and many thanks to Rachel Burns for the new Breadfordshire Bakery sign, very ‘Ted (Bread) Baker’ - take a look!

Hi all!

I had a great day at the E5 Bakehouse www.e5bakehouse.com being bought by Will, one of the bakers there. E5 has a fantastic community set up with brilliant bread being made under the arches in Hackney Fields. As well as the bakery they serve sandwiches and quiche to local businesses, have a community cafĂ© and have just opened a cheese cave. I learned new kneading techniques and recipes – thanks to team E5!

Hi all!

This is a great bread my own recipe the beetroot keep the bread moist and the horseradish adds a subtle kick – and its bright pink!! Great with goats cheese or beef. What about tryig it with a good cheddar, and pickle ploughmans.

Very excited to announce that Manish, who has taken over the Woburn Village Store has taken me on for deliveries as he wants to sell locally sourced breads.  Once the refurb is completed they will be displayed in bread baskets giving that artisan feel. I’ve been practicing a new speciality bread  - sun dried tomato and feta – and am introducing it this week. It works really well as sliced bread for sandwiches or as an accompaniment to any meal really – it makes the house smell like pizza when I’m baking - which is great!

Hi all!

Having listened to the feedback from customers I’ve added larger family sized loaves in the entire range of breads. Regular loaves are 500g, and family sized loaves are 750g.

I've also been trying new out a new olive bread to add to the repertoire – need care with my salt levels but think I’ve got the recipe spot on now will be ready with my next order!

Hello all!

Hello all!

Another busy day in the kitchen today! I got back from the near Albi in France at about midday, with 40 loaves on order for that evening! Inspired by all the wonderful breads that I'd seen in the French markets, I had baguettes as an option for this weeks baking. After 5 hours in the kitchen on a pretty hot day, I was ready to head out and deliver all the breads on Friday evening.

Hello all!

An early start needed this week, as I was leaving at 2 o'clock to go on holiday to the south of France! 50 loaves were on order including my first batch of 16 sourdoughs, which I had started on Thursday evening and left to prove overnight before baking in the morning. It was a long morning, but eventually all the loaves were baked and off I jetted leaving the delivery to my parents - not sure exactly how thrilled they were about spending their Friday evening driving around Bedfordshire!

After completing a Bread Angels course, and meeting all the food safety requirements, Friday 13th June was my first day of baking, selling and delivering bread in the Aspley Guise/Woburn area, and it was a really busy first day! There was an overwhelming response to emails I sent out the day before, and I had orders for 18 wholemeal and 18 white loaves by midday on Friday, and after 6 hours in the kitchen I was ready to head out for delivery. It was a baking hot day to be baking too!

Lovely to get some good feedback on the bread too!
